Number 3 in our Christmas is coming Blog series! When the person you are thinking about for a gift already has book covers and placemats sometimes a gift card is the way to go. But just because you are buying a shopping spree or adventure doesn’t mean you can’t still make it special…

Fabric gift card holders

This cute little holder adds a little extra to the gift card experience. It’s quick and easy and can use up the left over scraps from other projects.

All you need is 2 – 5 coordinating prints.
cut three 3″ x 3″ squares
cut two 3″ x 8″ rectangles
optional items ie ribbon, beads and buttons to decorate if desired.

Step 1: Press the 3″ x 3″ squares in half on the diagonal.

Step 2: On the right side of the rectangles place two of the triangles on the bottom of one and one on the top of the other. The raw edges of the triangles will match the edges of the rectangles. using a long stitch baste in place.

Step 3: Pin and baste the ribbon in centre top and bottom of one of the rectangles

Step 4: Place the rectangles right sides together, pin and sew using 1/4″ seam allowance. Leave a 3″ opening to turn out.

Step 5: turn right side out and press. make sure the single triangle is on the opposite side to the double triangles then topstitch all the way around.
